Hello & welcome! Glad you stopped by.
The recent tornado outbreaks that brutally ravaged the South laid waste to my old hometown of Smithville, MS. Dear, precious family & friends lost their lives with others suffering physical & emotional injury as indescribable devastation hurled through the town of 850+ residents.
As is the case with today's news networks' ever-greedy bid to report only news items that sell to viewers, little towns across the South like Smithville, MS. seem to have been over-looked for the larger cities. The difference being that the bigger cities can draw their resources from a larger metropolitan area, whereas the smaller towns are having to rely on surrounding communities & the wonderful hearts & charity of out-of-state people who donate.
Smithville, MS. like all the smaller towns of the South, has one thing going for it that cannot be donated or purchased: pride. The South has a long history of rebuilding; of helping the neighbor in need & making do with what one has. I have an idea that the old saying, "...giving the shirt off his back" derived from the South. I would like to ask my friends (& strangers) who visit this sight to consider helping in any way possible. First, start with a prayer. Then visit: www.helpsmithville.com for more information on how to help. Don't be afraid to help a stranger because I'm almost positive that the good family & friends of Smithville, MS. would be glad to give YOU the shirt off of their back.
to acquire 36 years of hard-earned experience. I am predominantly a freelance musician, & I play electric & acoustic guitars, banjo & mandolin with harmony vocals. Look around, buy a CD, listen to some sound clips, check out my favorite quotes page, browse the calendar & come visit me at a gig or hire me to play for you. Also, I have some video clips of my electric guitar playing on this site.
I travel & play as a sideman/studio musician extensively. But there's one place I'll always return, & that's the Deep South. Splunge, Mississippi to be exact. It's home. It's the place where I grew up, & where I go to visit my family & friends. It's the quiet place where I can go to unwind, reacquainting myself to the charm & sensibility of Southern hospitality. Take care & drop me a line...
