Katrina Hurricaine Relief Benefit - October 2005

In the fall of 2005, the coastlines of Mississippi, Louisiana & Florida were blasted by one of this nation's worst natural disasters, Hurricane Katrina. Amy & I watched the news along with millions of other Americans, & as we sat in disbelief, I knew I had to do something, especially for my beloved home state of Mississippi. So with the help of some talented singers, musicians, sound men, friends & family, a Hurricane Relief Benefit was formed with the funds donated to the Red Cross. My heartfelt thanks go out to each & every person who contributed in some way.

Scenes from Mississippi

These are a few pics of some southern sights that are dear to my heart. There will be more to come, but meanwhile, I hope you enjoy kudzu & cotton! Kudzu was imported from China during the Depression years to help control erosion. I grew up seeing this strange vine completely enveloping anything in it's path...telephone poles & wires, rusted-out cars & tractors and old houses & barns! Over the past 32 years, I've seen the grandeur of the Swiss Alps, admired the mystery of the Northern lights of Greenland, & grinned back at the Mona Lisa at the Louvre in Paris, & they all pale in comparison to the beauty of acres upon acres of cotton fields.
